payable on the first night of the workshop.
The Columbus Children's Mass Choir, under the direction of Cynthia Gowens, is a city-wide choir comprised of children, ages 4 to 12, from various churches in Franklin County. Annually in October, the Columbus Children's Mass Choir has a 3-day music workshop and concert.
During the workshop, the children learn original age-appropriate and scripture based music composed by Cynthia Gowens. They participate in Bible classes, and make new friends! The children are fed each night of the workshop--spiritually and physically! Our food committee provides food each night for the children, which is a great help to the parents. Each year a different Bible character is chosen for the children to learn about. We have two capable teachers for each age group who lead the children in learning more about the Lord through these Bible stories.
The Columbus Children's Mass Choir has also been a part of the Martin Luther King, Jr. children's choir which performs at the MLK celebration sponsored by the city of Columbus, Ohio. The choir also performed at a reception at the Franklin Park Conservatory for the Chapungu: Stories in Stone exhibit from Zimbabwe.
The annual workshop and concert is held the week prior to the second Sunday in October. For the past few years Faith Ministries Church, (Dr. C. Dexter Wise, pastor), has been the host for this annual Columbus Children's Mass Choir event.
In 2011 we had children participating from 19 churches in the city of Columbus!
